Can I Really Be This ‘Special’ June 16, 2011

And by special, I don’t mean super-duper.  I mean it in much more a short bus riding, window licking, wearing a bright yellow helmet to protect my soft spot sorta way.  No, I’m not talking relationship wise or about guys on this one.  I’m well aware of exactly how ‘special’ I am in that department.  I’m talking about being technologically challenged.  Really, every time I hear of a new ‘invention’ (dvd, ipod, whatever), I break out into a cold sweat.  I just don’t get it.  I still have no idea what the hell TiVo or Skype is!  I’m okay with that actually, it just pisses me off when I look at beloved collection of cassette tapes and know that people are mocking me for still having them.  They actually keep my collection of VHS tapes company, so there. 😉 Hell, I only got a digital camera because my ex bf was embarrassed as hell that I was still using those paper disposable things.  Whatever.  Come to think of it, that’s how I acquired my first IPod as well.  He refused to go on vacation with me when he saw me packing my Sony Discman player.  Yeah, I’m not talking about this happening 15 years ago either.  It was probably 5.  I’m special that way.  I don’t see why you need to ‘fix’ things that aren’t broken.  Sure people would point and laugh at the stupid gal with the paper camera and the Discman that always ‘skipped’ when I walked, but I loved them.  They did their job and they made me happy.  Oh well, if being a technological moron gets my nice gifts, then maybe I should start walking around with a boom box.  Or better yet, I’m hoping someone takes pity on me when they see me reading an actual multipage paper book and that scores me a Kindle.  😉

Anyway, I upgraded to Explorer 9 yesterday.  Of course I forgot the whole restarting your computer thing to actually have it take effect, so I was happy that the changes weren’t all that noticeable (duh, not noticeable as all since it wasn’t actually installed yet).  I think the jump from 7 to 9 was just too much for me however.  I’m not a big fan of change.  Or my computer restarting itself over night without my prior approval.  Damn upstart.  So I wake up this morning and head to my trusty computer.  Only to stare blankly at it ’cause it looks all different.  Boo for change.  I can’t find my favorites, my e-mail looks all different and I can’t seem to navigate from page to page without sitting and staring at the screen for an inordinate amount of time.

Me no likee!
