So I was on OkStupid earlier to read a message some jackhole guy sent to me when I discovered that I had another message waiting for me from yesterday. It was hysterically funny. And generic as shit. I was torn between giving him bonus points for making me laugh out loud and sending me what very well could have been a ‘form’ letter. Guess which way I chose? Duh. Of course I opted for the snarky reply letting him know that although I thought his message was exceptionally funny, that it read like a generic form letter. I then went on to ask how many women he sends that exact letter to each day and how it’s working out for him. 😉 Any wonder I’m still single?
He sent back another really funny (and really friggin’ long) response totally poking fun at himself and ‘form letter #147’ that he sent to me. No clue if we have anything at all in common, but he certainly is funny. Oh, and he’s 6’5″. 🙂 Oh, and he categorizes himself as ‘slender’. 😦 Whatever ……..
So back to the reason for this post. Remember my faux profile that I have on OkStupid? The one that I don’t use anymore (as far as you know). The one that has a picture up of a really unattractive girl. The one who is short and dumpy and who’s written profile makes her (me) sound like a complete idiot? Yeah, that one. Well she got 4 messages today! FOUR! I only got 2. What’s up with that?!

Hahahah Steve! OMG …Having a fake profile really is telling. I was tempted to create another one again yesterday but am using all my might not too.

But why do you even have a fake one?
I don’t even look at the messages. I just see the notifications, so no clue what they’re like. Duh BAS, the fake profile is to look at other people’s profiles without them knowing it’s ‘me’ 🙂
It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. Maybe the bogus profile got messages from ugly losers or geeks who wouldn’t get a chance with somebody like real you?

I have the fake profile so I can look at guys’ profiles and not have them know that the real me is doing so. Not unlike what a prepubescent teenager would do 😦
Simple. Less intimidation. At least that’s one theory. A lot really depends on the type of guys sending the messages.
For example, if they are merely out for sex…well…depending on exactly how your fake profile reads they may just consider it a sure thing since they are “doing the courtesy” of contacting said faux-girl.

The sad thing is that there are men (and women alike) who actually think like this. That a person should be greatful they are being “graced” with attention from them.
